Just an hour away from Johannesburg lies Mangwanani River Valley Spa. A place that offers an awesome bush escape for you and your friends. The setting is perfect for group experiences, because spaces are shared vs private. Our itinerary was jam packed and would keep us preoccupied from 08h00 – 18h00. Caught a shuttle from Monte Casino and would recommend it as the only form of transport to be used, as it the safest option. Our Arrival at Mangwanani, had us welcomed by roaming monkeys, happy song and delicious shots of sherry. Completed short treatment forms and we were ready to go! Kickstarting the full day of pampering, were the revitalising facials, using pressure point massage techniques and the spa’s signature facial range. The whole process lasted 45 minutes. Also, important to note that this was not a beauty facial. Then followed the 45-minute dry body scrubbing sessions, where each person was allocated a room of their own and given a choice between maize or a body brush for exfoliation purposes. We all opted to acquaint ourselves with body brushes, because we did not want to deal with any maize remains(especially in and around our delicate parts lol.) Another 45 minutes was dedicated to some Jacuzzi time. Something I appreciated as a great alternative for water fun in Winter. Trust we took full advantage of this opportunity and enjoyed lots of bubbly. My favourite had to be the head, neck and shoulder massage. A total treat for me, because those are the areas where I hold the most tension and the relief was most welcomed.
Hand massages were also included in our package, for this we got to sit on a deck and take in beautiful views of the river. During this 45 minute treatment, a lady came to give us pretty face tattoos which were floral patterns that left us feeling cute. These tattoos were very easy to wash off as they were temporary given that calamine was used. Foot massages were also lovely, these were the second last treatments for the day. To officially wrap things up we had 60 minute full body massages with hot stones and a selection of scented essential oils that melted into the skin. Refreshing sensations! This spa has to be my favourite in South Africa, from its design to the services on offer. The half day package is one of my top picks because it touches all bases from exfoliation with a luxury Rasul Treatment, followed by a 60-minute Swedish massage and a 60-minute facial. Lunch is also included and consists out of a light meal, a choice of smoothies and a glass of sparkling wine. As a water baby, complimentary access to their variety of pools is pure joy! Really like the massage pool jet, because in only just a few minutes, it helps alleviate shoulder, neck and back pain. There is also a Kneip pool which has varying water temperatures to help promote blood circulation, so one would start with a dip in the lukewarm water section, move into hot water then end with a cold water splash.
It is definitely the place for a world-class spa experience! These pictures were paired with captions that encouraged one to specifically try out the back massages (said to be the best in Johannesburg.) We went a step further and booked 90-minute full body Swedish massages with an additional cupping session for myself... The spa date for two, started with a guided tour around the facilities(first greeted by the cutest garden setup), wardrobe changes and a quick snack break that consisted out of an assortment of confectionery goods, hot and cold beverages as well as fruits, followed by the scheduled body treatments. Little did we know that the one and a half experience would send us to heaven and back (you know people on social media usually hype things up), this time the roaring posts matched reality. Also, enjoyed a light delicious lunch before our exit.

A friend and I had planned a catch-up session and Soulstice Day Spa Pretoria was the chosen meeting place. Relaxation and detoxification were the order of the day. We arrived an hour early to enjoy the spa facilities before our treatments. Had a cuppa, dipped in the heated pool, snacked on bites and hit the sauna. Then twas time for the Four Seasons Massage Journey, coupled with a Bellabaci Cupping experience. This massage was layered and took us through sensory delights which incorporated exfoliation, serum, body butter and a soy candle. Our skin felt nourished and had a radiant glow. We even got to take the leftover massage essentials home.
